The New York Freakin' Times, Baby!

I swear I will not turn this blog into shameless self-promotion, but I just had to share this with you all.

Lucy made it to the big time. Ute (our daughter) is very jealous.

  3. Heidi, kudos to you for spreading the word about goats and urban homesteading, and doing your best to overcome the reporter's urge to play up negatives. Love what you're doing. Best, Karl & Margaret.

  5. Posted this on our facebook page and now we've got people thinking of getting backyard goats. Wonderful!

We plan on getting two this year. No clue what kind yet. Any suggestions, let me know. We have 8 acres - 3 of them is wooded, the rest pasture. We'd like them to forage for most of their food if possible. Don't want a milk goat at this time but might want to later. They should be big since we have predators, etc. And most important, they must be gentle with my 19 month old daughter.

  6. When I read the title / subtitle of your blog, I can't help but do it in the movie trailer guy's voice. There's the book, now the coverage in the NYTimes, when's the screenplay coming?

By the way, feel free to shamelessly promote. This is your blog!

Congrats to you guys for making a difference.

  9. @ Stone Cottage Mama - Check out Gail Damerow's "Your Goats". It's geared towards 4-H kids, but has a lot of good info about the basics of housing and temperament of the various breeds. Also http://fiascofarm.com/goats/index.htm is my absolute go to place for all things goat. Such great info there.

Thanks to everyone for your positive comments. Go goats!
